1- Smoking is forbidden in enclosed spaces at the Venice Biennale.

2- Contravention of this prohibition will result in a fine of a minimum of 220 Euros to a maximum of 2, 200 Euros to be paid by the Venice Biennale Foundation and a fine of a minimum of 27.50 Euros to a maximum of 275 Euros to be paid by the person committing the offence.

3- If the offence is committed in the vicinity of a woman who is obviously pregnant or of babies or children up the age of 12, the fine will be doubled (from 55 Euros to 550 Euros).

4- Anyone committing this offence will be removed from the spaces occupied by the Venice Biennale.

5- Bringing food of any kind into the enclosed spaces of the Venice Biennale is forbidden.

6- Anyone breaking this rule will be asked to remove said food from the venue in question.

7- Eating and drinking in the enclosed spaces of the Venice Biennale are forbidden.

8- Anyone breaking this rule will be asked to leave the premises.

9- Bringing in portable computers or objects of similar size or leaving them in the cloakroom is forbidden.

10- The Venice Biennale Foundation cannot guarantee the security of such objects.

11- You are reminded that total or partial destruction of a work of art or any other property is punishable under Italian law.

12- Under Italian law, total or partial destruction of a work of art is regarded as being of a more serious nature than in the case of any other property. The punishment is accordingly more severe.

13- According to the gravity of the offence, the punishment for total or partial destruction of a work of art may be a fine of up to 309 Euros or imprisonment of six months up to three years (proceedings are peremptory).

14- Defacing or daubing objects of historic and artistic interest, wherever situated, will result in a fine of up to 1, 032 Euros or imprisonment of up to a year and proceedings are peremptory.

15- You are reminded that theft of a work of art or any other property is punishable under Italian law.

16- Under Italian law, theft of a work of art is regarded as being of a more serious nature than that of any other property. The punishment is therefore more severe.

17- According to the gravity of the offence, the punishment for theft of a work of art may be a fine of 154 Euros up to 516 Euros or from six months to three years' imprisonment.

18- Aggravations: the penalty for the aggravation provided for in article 625 is a fine from 130 Euros to 1, 032 Euros or one to six years' imprisonment.

19- All laws of the Republic of Italy are in force within the Venice Biennale as are likewise all penalties relating to offences.

20- You are now being checked by security staff deployed throughout the whole area.

21- You are now being checked and filmed by security cameras in position throughout the whole area.

22- The admission ticket to the Venice Biennale is valid for:

- visiting each exhibition venue: the Arsenal and the Biennale Gardens

- visiting the two venues on different days

- use of free cloakroom: in the Gardens and at the Arsenal.

23- The Biennale will open to the public on 12 June to 6 November. Not on the opening day: the 9th, 10th and 11th of June are reserved for the press.

24- Thursday 9 June 2005 is reserved for press agencies, daily newspapers and radio and television, directors, editors-in-chief and correspondents for weekly publications and specialist periodicals.

25- Friday 10 and Saturday 11 June 2005 will be reserved for non-specialist periodicals and all of the above categories.

26- The opening event and award ceremony will take place on Friday 10 June 2005.

27- Every application for press accreditation must be accompanied by:

- a letter on the newspaper's headed notepaper signed by the director or editor-in-chief appointing the journalist to cover the 51st International Art Exhibition

- at least one article published on the 50th International Art Exhibition or a copy of a recent article in the case of a new application

- applications without the required documentation are not considered.

28- The Biennale Press Office has assessed applications for accreditation received by 30 April 2005. It is no longer possible to apply for accreditation.

29- Access to the Venice Biennale implies compliance with its internal rules for visitors.

30-The full price of admission to the Venice Biennale is 15 Euros.

31- Admission to the Venice Biennale for people under 26 with identity card and students with university card or record book costs 8 Euros.

32- Admission to the Venice Biennale for people aged 65 or over costs 12 Euros.

33- Concessions are available:

- on presentation of a ticket for the International Festival of Dance, Music and Theatre

- for military personnel

- for residents in Venice

- for people with a Rolling Venice Card

- for people with a Youth Card.

34- Alitalia customers will get a 50% discount on admission.

- individuals, admission price not included and booking not required, thematic tour at set starting times 5 Euros and single/double audio-guide per venue 3 Euros or 5 Euros

- groups of students, admission price not included, in Italian: 1 venue 65 Euros - 2 venues 100 Euros and in a foreign language: 1 venue 75 Euros - 2 venues 120 Euros

- primary schools, second level, and middle schools, admission price not included, 1 venue 45 Euros

- infant schools and primary schools, first level, admission price not included, 1 venue 40 Euros

- family weekends 1 venue with educational supplement per child 2 Euros with admission price not included. Educational activities take place at weekends at set times in one venue only.

41- Payment by bank transfer, postal order and credit card.

42- There are no resale rights.

43- Selling of tickets requires authorisation from the administration.

44- Resale is not permitted. Resale constitutes fraud in terms of article 640 of the Criminal Code and embezzlement in terms of article 646.

45- The Venice Biennale catalogue costs 65 Euros.

46- The catalogue consists of three volumes:

- one for the exhibition in the Arsenal

- one for the exhibition in the Italian Pavilion

- one for national contributions, collateral exhibitions and any special projects.

283- The budget for the last Venice Biennale for the Visual Arts was 6.4 million Euros. Said budget was divided up as follows:

- 3.9 million Euros for the board

- 2.3 million Euros for management

- 565,000 Euros for the director Francesco Bonami and his staff, including travelling cost expenses

- and 492,000 Euros for other collaborators, including the press office.
